The following template has been created so that you may come to support our people at Parliament Square even if school/college/university starts. This official template has been created to inform schools and colleges of the situation in Sri-Lanka, the protests that are going on all over the world and why you/your children need to miss school/college/uni for this.

Please fill in the name(s) of the students and dates you are prepared to come before you hand in the letter.

My child/ children, ....................................................................................................................., are currently studying in ........................................................... We are from the Tamil community in Sri Lanka and currently, our community is being subjected to systematic ethnic cleansing by the Sri Lankan government.
Over the past two weeks, Tamils have been committed to seeking support from the International governments and journalists (currently journalists, NGOs etc are banned from the Tamil North East area of Sri Lanka) of to publicise our ‘Rwanda’ in Sri Lanka situation. If we do not continue to request the International Community to call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the Sri Lankan government will wipe out our community and my children will lose their race and identity. My children are aware of the torture, rape, forceful abortions / sterilisations, murder etc., used against our people by the government and feel very helpless as it is – to leave them out of the current situation will be compromising their own feelings.
I would like to apply for leave for my children to take the time to save our community from being destroyed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on ……………………………………
